FieldSoft Implements “Stop Ship” of AIMSonScene

FieldSoft has discovered a performance issue with AIMSonScene software on some Windows 7 and Windows 8 personal computers (PCs). The issue - when it occurs - causes an abrupt program termination from within the AIMSonScene Whiteboard feature. The issue appears on some, but not all, Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Windows 8 (Win 7/8) computers. The variable PC nature of the issue makes tracking down the cause and fixing it, extremely difficult.

FieldSoft wants to emphasize that the problem appears on some Win 7/8 PCs, but not on others. FieldSoft therefore, does not believe that current Win 7/8 users successfully running AIMSonScene now should experience the problem. FieldSoft cannot however, feel as confidant with new users, current users who switch PCs, or current users who upgrade their operating system. The issue dictates that FieldSoft limit AIMSonScene sales and distribution until the problem is corrected. Subsequently, FieldSoft is suspending the sale of any new AIMSonScene software licenses. Moreover, FieldSoft is suspending renewal sales of AIMSonScene software support and software enhancement (SSSE) subscriptions.

Although FieldSoft will not take any new orders for licenses or support, it will continue to provide support to customers with current SSSE subscriptions.

Note that all other AIMSonScene software features operate in accordance with the software documentation. In addition, it is only two operations within the AIMSonScene Whiteboard that cause a problem. Specifically, those two are the “Ink” feature and the unit “Drag and Drop” feature. Note also that AIMSonScene completely recovers from an “abnormal termination” caused from within the Whiteboard.

Future updates regarding the software issue will be posted here on the FieldSoft website.

Last, but by no means least, the company deeply regrets any inconvenience the issue causes customers.

Click the “View Product Demonstration” links - located in the upper left hand corner of this screen - to see how AIMSonScene incident command system (ICS) software functions.  Learn why this ICS software is the fastest, simplest and easiest alternative to tactical worksheets or marker boards.  See why the NIMS Support Center found it NIMS “consistent”.  Understand why AIMSonScene ICS Software helps you better focus on incident strategy, incident tactics, and incident hazards.

Ease of acquisition and use are arguably your most important ICS software requirements, once software capabilities are understood.  Almost as important is compatibility with current and future systems.

Ease of use is inherent to AIMSonScene which is why it the City of Tuscaloosa, Alabama selected it for all departments. Sierra Vista, Arizona selected it for police and fire department use. A government agency in Australia even selected AIMSonScene once it discovered how fast, simple and easy the software was to configure, learn and use.

AIMSonScene compatibility with current and future systems is a reality since software engineers can integrate or interface the product with other systems via the AIMSonScene API SDK.   Subsequently, AIMSonScene ICS software:

  • Is “command terminal software” for Motorola’s Fireground Communications System
  • Has been interfaced with ZOLL’s FireRMs product and Emergency Response Maps “Run Book”, to name just two examples
  • Is receiving computer aided dispatching (CAD) system 'dispatch' data - such as units and personnel assigned - via the 4QTRS CADLive system
  • Has been selected by Lucas County, OH as part of their new CAD, RMS and ICS software project
