FDonScene Incident Command Software Released by FieldSoft

(CHANDLER, AZ – July 1, 1997) - Officials of Chandler, AZ based FieldSoft, Inc., announced today the availability of FDonScene command software for the American fire service. FDonScene is first and only software application in existence that works the way that real people work on the scene. The product replaces paper and pencil based tactical worksheets that have – until now – been the norm on the scene of life threatening emergencies.

FieldSoft applications are used by incident commanders to manage people, resources, and events while on the scene of an emergency. The software automates most – if not all -- incident management functions formerly handled with pen and paper based worksheets, checklists or marker boards. Co-developer Mark Bouchard of FieldSoft stated that "the company has met and exceeded the primary design goal of developing a product that is both easier and faster to use then paper or marker board based command products. In fact, our approach has resulted in the first automated command application that allows the incident commander to focus on the incident and not the system used to manage the incident".

Application features allow command staff to assign and track units; assign and monitor the progress of objectives and tasks assigned to sectors and companies; and monitor all events initiated through , or otherwise controlled, by the software via the automated event log. The software is fully configurable by users since most agencies use different polices, procedures and practices on the scene of an incident. Moreover, nearly ever available feature can be controlled by the touch of a single finger. Subsequently, even those challenged by use of a computer key board can use the software with little to no special training
