FDonScene Integrated Accountability Enhancement Released At AFC Conference

(CHANDLER, AZ - April 15, 1998) - FieldSoft Inc. introduced its latest enhancements to FDonScene command software at the annual Arizona Fire Chiefs Conference. The primary enhancement adds an integrated accountability feature to the software, and is just one of many enhancements added to version 1.5 of the software. Fire Chiefs from across the state saw how the product has been improved.

FDonScene is incident command software that automates the tactical worksheet. IC's and their staff use the software to manage what happened, when it happened, and who it happened to with the touch of a finger. The command team can manage what happened, who it happened to and when it happened though a simple and intuitive user interface. Moreover, the software automatically generates an incident event log that documents everything that happed during the incident.

The new accountability feature allows the command team to track every firefighter assigned to a unit on the scene. Most important, the feature can be configured so that crewmembers are added to a unit automatically, selected from a roster, or typed in on the fly. The feature can be used by itself, or to augment other manual accountability tools such as nametags and passports or ID tags clipped to a key ring. Other enhancements shown at the conference include the ability to track up to 12 sectors with 14 units per sector, the ability to scan preplans or maps into the system in any one of 22 image formats (up from 3 in version 1.1), and an enhanced user interface that makes the program even simpler to operate then before.

"Managing firefighter accountability and the new OSHA two in/two out rule are the latest challenges facing command teams who are already overburdened when they arrive on the scene", according to Battalion Chief (Ret.) Mark Bouchard of FieldSoft, Inc.. He went on to state that "the new accountability feature vastly reduces command staff workload, while actively facilitating firefighter safety and survival. Subsequently, everyone wins when the software is used."
