AFOTEC Evaluates FDonScene And Panasonic Computer For Use By Air Force Fire Departments

(CHANDLER, AZ - May 14, 1999) - FieldSoft, Inc., officials today announced that the U.S. Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center completed a comprehensive field evaluation of FDonScene command, accountability, and pre-plan software. The evaluation (conducted at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona) comprised of planned exercises and actual emergency responses. A Panasonic Toughbook 27 color touch screen computer, Gamber Johnson mount vehicle , and a Lind D.C. power supply were included in the evaluation of the response package put together for the Air Force by FieldSoft.

A written report should follow in a few months. A positive evaluation means that FDonScene could be added to the Air Force Table of Allowances, adding U. S. Air Force Fire Departments around the world to FieldSoft's' potential customer base.

"FieldSoft is eagerly looking forward to the final report" said company spokesperson Mark Bouchard. "We see the evaluation as an outstanding opportunity for the company and our customers, regardless of the results. We intend on using the report findings as guidelines. In fact, we already plan on incorporating an enhanced pre-plan capability -- that the testing revealed as potentially beneficial -- into out next software release", Bouchard added.

FieldSoft applications are used by incident commanders to manage people, resources, and events while on the scene of an emergency. The software automates most – if not all -- incident management functions formerly handled with pen and paper based worksheets, checklists or marker boards. The command team can increase their effectiveness while decreasing their workload, through the use of software features that allow the command team to focus on the incident and not the computer.
