Hamilton County USAR Selects FDonScene

(CHANDLER, AZ – October 22, 2000) - FieldSoft, Inc., announced today that the Hamilton County, Ohio Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Task Force selected FDonScene incident command, responder accountability, and pre-plan browser software. The selection was made following a live software demonstration for Hamilton County Fire Chiefs, which was hosted by Fire Chief Robert Weitzel of the Green Township Fire Department.

"FDonScene is ideal for the Task Force", stated Mark Bouchard of FieldSoft, "because it automates and thereby simplifies management of Force people and rescue resources. Moreover, automated resource and progress reports generated by the software facilitates seamless integration of the Task Force into the ICS organization of the local authority with jurisdiction over the incident."

The Task Force is an outgrowth of an idea originally developed by the Hamilton County Fire Chiefs. Force mission is focused on the eight special rescue situations associated with an urban setting. The primary response area for the Task Force is Hamilton County (including Cincinnati, Ohio) which has a population of nearly 900,000 persons. The Task Force has been in existence for three years, and operational for the last two.

Initial equipment funding of $225,000 was raised through private donations. Support from Hamilton County Government was a one time grant for a replacement truck to pull the USAR equipment trailer. The USAR Task Force is staffed by 105 members from the 40 plus fire departments with-in Hamilton County. A search for a permanent funding source for on-going equipment maintenance and equipment replacement is underway.

The Hamilton County USAR Task Force and concept behind it has proved so effective that it is being considered as a model for the formation of other regional response teams with-in Ohio.
