FieldSoft Announces Shipment of Version 2.3 Software

(CHANDLER, AZ – April 30, 2000) -  FieldSoft, Inc., announced today that the first shipments of FDonScene version 2.3 and PDonScene version 2.3 have been made. The release allows FDonScene version 1.x and 2.1 users, and PDonScene version 1.5 users to upgrade to the newest available program features.

Incident commanders manage people, resources, and events while on the scene of an emergency with FieldSoft applications. The software automates most – if not all -- incident management functions formerly handled with pen and paper based worksheets, checklists or marker boards. Moreover, enhancements made to the product since it was first released allow the command team to effectively use centrally stored digital pre-plan information such as text and drawings, rather then hard copy information located in one or more locations and formats.

The Version 2.3 Configuration Module interface has been totally revised to simplify data entry and incident configuration prior to an incident. Additionally, users upgrading from version 1.5 or 2.1 can simply and easily move existing data into the new software release via an automated import feature.

Planning and deployment for "Staged Responses" of people or units was added in FDonScene version 2.1, and has been enhanced for fire and law enforcement users in version 2.3. Layout sectors, division, groups, or teams; assign units and personnel to each; specify objective and task assignments; illustrate it all with the "Scene" feature; and save everything for later use. The feature is an ideal way to manage your resources during fairs, concerts, parades, dignitary protection, cell lock downs and searches, and other events or venues that require special deployments and management of your people, other resources, and critical events that occur when crowds of people are gathered together.

The Command Module has an improved look and feel. FieldSoft enhanced the way you can assign objectives and tasks so that you can now make assignments from the "Unit Info" and "Sector Info" screens (as you do in version 1.5 and 2.1) or you can now make the assignment from with-in the "Objectives" and "Tasks" screens themselves. This means you can see overall objectives or tasks status and make changes as needed from with-in one screen.

The operator can now select an incident management "Role" to facilitate use of multiple copies of PDonScene during an incident, and to facilitate consolidation of multiple event logs into a single one for reporting or documentation purposes after the incident is terminated.

"Note" entries can now be up to 255 characters in length.

A specially enhanced web browser, first incorporated in FDonScene version 2.1, has been retained in version 2.3 so that nearly any type of text or graphics (both new and existing) can be simply and easily loaded into the system and retrieved. Moreover, the feature facilitates wired or wireless IP Internet or corporate Intranet connectivity.

FieldVoice was added to the feature set in FDonScene version 2.1, in cooperation with Locution Systems of Golden, Colorado, and has been enhanced in version 2.3 to work even better.

FieldVoice prompts the user with a human voice as timers expire or other key events occur with-in the system. FieldVoice frees the computer operator to interact with the world around him or her, since the computer tells the team (with clear and concise verbal messages) when an important event occurs.

Organization "Views" have been enhanced. Clicking a single button now displays all assignments and overall on-scene status in an even more informative manner then in the past.

The PDonScene "Situation Summary" feature has been totally redesigned. Version 1.5 allowed the command team to gather information for up to 99 "Suspects", "Witnesses", or "Vehicles". Version 2 now allows unlimited intelligence information to be gathered for "Persons", "Property", and "Vehicles". Moreover, "Persons" categories, as well other key data, can now be selected from user definable selection lists, diminishing the need for operator keystrokes.

Finally, FieldSoft has standardized both PDonScene for law enforcement and FDonScene for fire, technical rescue, EMS, and SAR at version 2.3 releases. The standardization means that law enforcement and other public safety responders can work even better together under a unified command concept, but do so using separate -- yet compatible -- command tools that have been tailored to their own respective needs. No one is forced to use an incident management tool designed for another type of agency.
