Windsor Police Select PDonScene
To Manage Response To Civil Protest
Threat
(CHANDLER, AZ – July 5, 2000) - FieldSoft, Inc., announced that the Windsor, Ontario Police Service (WPS) selected PDonScene to help plan for, and manage the response to, protest demonstrations that took place during the recently held Organization of American States (OAS) meeting in Windsor.
The software was ready and in place at the WPS Joint Operation Center (JOC) as delegates commenced OAS activities. PDonScene was used throughout the remainder of the OAS meeting to manage hundreds of law enforcement officers located at several different venues throughout Windsor, as WPS responded to peaceful labor - and not so peaceful anarchist - demonstrations by thousands of people.
"We [WPS] purchased the software because operation of it looked simple," stated a JOC Staff Sergeant. That Sergeant went on to say that "we found it [PDonScene] exceptional in that it showed the situation in real time with both [officer] names and call signs".
PDonScene is used to manage people, resources, and events while on the scene of an emergency. The software automates most - if not all - incident management functions formerly handled with pen and paper based worksheets, checklists or marker boards. System timers automatically prompt (both visually and audibly) for rule of engagement and officer welfare checks. White board and information browser features allow the immediate retrieval and display of both graphic and textual information needed to manage the incident. Point and click technology facilitates movement of personnel and units from assignment to assignment.
