Middletown Township FD Purchases FDonScene Software

(CHANDLER, AZ – October 19, 2001) - FieldSoft, Inc., announced today that the Middletown Township, N.J., Fire Department recently purchased FDonScene incident command, responder accountability, and preplan browser software. Final purchase approval followed unanticipated use of FDonScene "trial" software by the Middletown Fire Communication Unit, in response to the September 11th attack on the World Trade Center (WTC).

A communications unit member on scene at the Port, who had seen a ninety minute demonstration of the software a few days earlier, brought the trial software on line and began tracking people, resources, and events. A second person watched how the software was being used, and took over operation of it a few hours later. Overall, the software was operated for 14 hours.

Over 700 WTC attack victims passed through the Atlantic Highlands Ferry Port in New Jersey following the attack. Two fire departments, three local police departments, as well as representatives from county, state, and federal agencies were on hand to assess and assist the victims as they embarked. Emergency units on the scene included 40 ambulances, the communications unit, a decontamination unit, and 10 pieces of fire apparatus.

FDonScene software is used by agencies that wish to automate the management of people, other resources and events on the scene of an incident. General software features free incident command staff from otherwise burdensome incident command and responder accountability "mechanics", so that the command team can better focus on strategy, tactics, and hazards. Responder accountability features ensure that first responders can be simply and easily tracked and accounted for from the time they arrive on the scene until they are released from the incident. The tactical survey (AKA - preplan) browser integrated with FDonScene ensures that related textual or graphic information is immediately available for review and use by forces on the scene. FieldSoft command, accountability, and tactical survey products have been selected for use by more than 125 fire, law enforcement, and private sector customers in four different countries.
