More Texas Fire Departments Purchase FDonScene Software and Toughbook Computers

(CHANDLER, AZ – February 26, 2001) - FieldSoft, Inc., announced today that the City of Missouri, TX. Fire Department and the Katy, TX. Fire Department recently became FieldSoft customers. Missouri City Fire purchased multiple copies of FDonScene software and annual maintenance subscriptions for the software. The Katy Fire Department purchase was comprised of both FDonScene software and a Panasonic Toughbook computer.

FDonScene software automates the tactical worksheet so that command officers can better focus on incident strategy, tactics, and hazards. The integrated responder accountability feature automates and substantially simplifies the mechanics of tracking who is on scene, responder location and tasking on scene, as well as overall incident progress. The specially enhanced web browser allows anyone in a command post or emergency response vehicle to almost instantly retrieve, display, and share with others pre-plan information; such as maps, building plans, digital photos, and other alphanumeric information about an occupancy. Most important, FDonScene directly facilitates responder safety and survival through the increase in overall effectiveness that results from its' use during an incident.

The City of Missouri is located with-in Fort Bend County, and is only 17 miles Southwest of downtown Houston. Missouri City Fire has over 60 members and protects a population of over 40,000 persons. Katy is located 20 miles West of Houston, and is with-in Harris County. Population served by the 60 member volunteer fire department is 20,000 people.

The Panasonic Toughbook 27 ruggedized computer was selected by Katy Fire. Computer specifications included a 12.1" color touch screen, a 500 MHz Pentium® processor, 128 MB of RAM, and a 10 GB hard disk drive. The most important specifications however, included those associated with hardware ruggedness and suitability for 24/7 in field use by public safety.

The Toughbook 27 is designed and "MIL-SPEC" tested (including 5 years of simulated in vehicle operation) to withstand extremes of heat, cold, vibration, shock, dust, and humidity. The end result is reliable performance when and where needed.

Other Texas customers using the FDonScene and Panasonic Toughbook solution include Southlake D.P.S., Lubbock Fire, and Cedar Hill Fire.
