FieldSoft Interface To GEMS Tracking and Accountability System Shown At FDIC
(CHANDLER, AZ – April 15, 2002) -
FieldSoft, Inc. recently demonstrated a real time interface between FDonScene software and the Grace Industries GEMS and T-PASS II firefighter tracking and accountability system. Demonstrations took place during the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) held April 11, 2002 through April 13, 2002 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The proof of concept interface demonstrated that command team workload could be reduced, and that responder safety and survival could be simultaneously enhanced, when best of breed products are functionally combined into a simple to use system of hardware and software.FDonScene is the leading solution for agencies who are truly serious about deploying a safer and more effective first response capability through automation of tactical worksheet or marker board operations, firefighter tracking and accountability responsibilities, and preplan or tactical survey information retrieval and display. The GEMS system (http://www.gracesales.com) is a leading solution for immediately identifying any firefighter in distress via spread spectrum radio technology. Integration of the complementary systems results in first responder safety and survival benefits not otherwise available from either system when used alone.
For example, integration ensures that the Incident Commander (IC) is automatically notified that Firefighter Smith (an Engine 21 crewmember that was assigned to the Interior Sector at 14:25 hours when the unit was tasked with conducting a "Primary Search") needs assistance; and needs it now! Subsequently, the IC and rapid intervention team can start rescue efforts based upon certainty of applicable and readily available information, rather than otherwise limited or uncertain information.
The prototype interface to GEMS has been created with the FieldSoft application programming interface (API) to FDonScene and PDonScene. It is the fourth TCP/IP sockets based interface to another system or product created with the FieldSoft API.
A final release date for the FieldSoft Interface Applet To GEMS has not yet been determined.
