Command Software And Wireless Technologies Converge
(CHANDLER, AZ – May 14, 2004) - FieldSoft, Inc., announced today that it will be highlighting the recently enhanced FDonScene “Pass Command” data feature within its’ exhibit booth at the 2004 Fire Rescue International Conference to be held in New Orleans later this year.
FDonScene software is a National Incident Management System (NIMS) compatible software product that automates incident command system (ICS) tasks and responsibilities so the command team can better focus on incident strategy, incident tactics, and incident hazards. Version 2.6 is in “pre-release” testing now, includes many new enhancements or features, and is scheduled for release later this year.
The newly enhanced Pass Command feature takes advantage of WI-FI (802.11) local wireless network (WLAN) technology (now available in most laptop computers). For example, all divisions, individual resources, operational objectives, individual resources, and resource assignments may be wirelessly transferred by the initial incident commander (IC) to a later arriving command officer who is “taking command” with FDonScene. Likewise, a “Staging” officer or “Base” officer can transfer individual resources to “Command” or the Operations Section Chief upon request.
Other new or enhanced features to be exhibited include automatic generation of a NIMS compatible ICS 201 Incident Briefing Form, a new integrated “Checklists” feature that is XML based, and substantially enhanced Scene (AKA – electronic whiteboard) functionality. The company will also demonstrate how incident information interoperability and operations involving large incidents, unified command, or area command complexities, can be more effectively supported when FDonScene is used as part of FieldSoft’s AIMSonScene multi-user software bundle”.
