FieldSoft Re-engineers Software Development And Software Release Processes

(CHANDLER, AZ – February 2, 2005) - FieldSoft, Inc., announced today that it successfully re-engineered both its’ software development process, and its’ software release process as well. The net result is that FieldSoft’s software support and software enhancement (SSSE) subscription service offers even more customer value than before, and that the company will be better positioned to address customer suggestions regarding desired software features as well.

The software release goal has been achieved via a process that will put newly enhanced software into the hands of SSSE customers on a more frequent basis. Specifically, software on CD-ROM will now be delivered when product is first purchased, and yet again once per year thereafter each time a customer renews his or her SSSE subscription. Customer software will be kept current between CD deliveries via monthly “mini-releases” that SSSE customers may elect to download. The net result will be that SSSE customers can expect to receive four or more software enhancements per year, rather than one or two that have been the standard to date.

The second goal has been achieved by adopting an “Agile” software development model. The Agile process promotes sustainable software development by programmer staff, and places the highest priority on customer satisfaction through continuous delivery of software enhancements. The continuous 30 day cycle of code design, code writing, code testing, and code release promotes monthly enhancement of software products, and ensures correction of recently discovered software defects – if any – are corrected within a predictable time frame.

According to FieldSoft President Mark Bouchard, “The company has striven to continually add customer driven software enhancements, while also working to immediately correct software defects reported to us. Our new processes will make the activities feasible in a timely and predictable manner.”
